470,000-square-foot MACS Metal Container Facility supports national defense while driving regional growth and advanced manufacturing
Scottsburg, Ind. (February 2026) — AML Construction proudly served as the general contractor for Conco, Inc.’s new 155mm Modular Artillery Charge System Metal Container Facility in Scottsburg, a large-scale, mission-critical manufacturing project supporting national defense and long-term economic growth in Southern Indiana. The facility represents a significant investment in advanced manufacturing infrastructure and workforce development.
The project was initially announced in 2023 and later expanded to meet growing production needs. AML Construction led both the renovation of existing space and the construction of a major addition, ultimately delivering a 470,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located at 1010 West Weir Road. The scope included highly specialized spaces designed for advanced production, finishing, and secure storage operations.
Built to support the manufacturing of metal containers for the Modular Artillery Charge System, the facility required precise coordination, strict quality control, and adherence to rigorous performance and safety standards. AML Construction worked closely with Conco and project partners to ensure the facility met the technical demands of defense-related manufacturing while maintaining efficiency and schedule integrity.
Following completion, AML Construction joined Conco leadership, representatives from the U.S. Department of War, Major General John Reim, Terry Amick, local officials, and community partners for the commissioning of the new MACS Metal Container Facility. The event marked the successful delivery of a project with national significance and local impact.
